Alyssa’s broad research interests focus on interdiscplinary research using neuroscientific knowledge to advance artificially intelligent systems. For her Master’s work she looked at the effect of stress on human spatial navigation performance. Having spent a few years working with the ENIGMA consortium through the department of psychiatry, her current project is focused on exploring the usefulness of machine learning techniques in classifying anxiety disorder subtypes through neuroimaging data, and subsequently identifying key neural biomarkers for these disorders. Her goal is to eventually return to research on sensory and motor processing, with a particular focus on artificially intelligent systems that rely on mimicking these human functions.
